I’m Rajesh Sharma. I passed out of Manipal Institute of Technology in 2012 with a B.Tech in Computer Science, scored an All-India Rank 387 in MET 2008, and have since spent the last 12 years counselling students one-on-one for engineering entrances across India. Every year I personally mentor 60–70 students who target Manipal, VIT, SRM, and BITS through my offline centre in Bhopal and online batches. What you’re reading below comes straight from those classroom whiteboards, my own notes from 2007–08, and the exact roadmap my 2025 batch is following right now for the MET Manipal Entrance 2026.

Why MET Manipal Entrance Still Matters in 2026

Manipal gives out close to 2,200 B.Tech seats across its three campuses. Average package in 2025 placements touched ₹12.5 LPA for CSE and ₹9.8 LPA overall (official placement report released in June 2025). For a private university, these numbers are only behind BITS Pilani and a couple of new IITs. The best part? You don’t need a 99.9 percentile like in JEE; a safe 160–175 marks in MET almost guarantees CSE at Manipal main campus.

Current Exam Pattern (Confirmed for 2026 Cycle)

  • 60 questions → 240 marks → 120 minutes
  • Physics 15 × 4 = 60 Chemistry 15 × 4 = 60 Mathematics 20 × 4 = 80 English + Logical 10 × 4 = 40
  • No negative marking
  • Two attempts allowed (April & May 2026) – best score considered

Syllabus That Actually Appears (Not the 500-page version)

From the last 8 years’ papers I’ve solved with my students, these chapters have never missed even a single question:

Physics – Must-do list (finish these = 50+ marks safe) Mechanics till Rotational Motion, Electrostatics + Capacitors Current Electricity + EMI Ray Optics + Wave Optics Heat & Thermodynamics Semiconductors + Logic Gates

Chemistry – Exact weightage I give my students Physical → 5–6 questions (Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry) Inorganic → 4–5 questions (Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, p-block) Organic → 5–6 questions (GOC, Hydrocarbons, Oxygen-containing compounds)

Mathematics – 20 questions, 80 marks – this decides your rank Coordinate Geometry + Calculus = 10–12 questions guaranteed Vectors & 3D = 3–4 questions Matrices, Probability, Statistics = remaining easy pickings

English – 10 questions in 12–15 minutes 5 vocabulary/grammar + 1 short comprehension passage. Read The Hindu editorial daily from January and you’ll clear 35–40 marks blindly.

How Difficult Is MET Really? (My batch data (2024 & 2025)

YearStudent JEE Main percentileMET Marks scoredFinal Branch at Manipal
202594.2189CSE
202589.7172CSE (Jaipur campus)
202587.3165ECE
202491.5182CSE

Takeaway I tell every parent: if your child is scoring 110–130 in JEE Main mocks, he/she will comfortably cross 170+ in MET because there is no negative marking and questions are direct.

  5. Keep final 5 minutes to fill unanswered questions (remember – no negative!)

Final Words From Someone Who Has Been There

I still remember walking into the Manipal campus in 2008 with my MET scorecard in hand – it changed my life. Today, when my students call me after getting CSE at Manipal with 182 marks, the feeling is the same.

If you follow the plan above for the next six months without excuses, I can say with full confidence: MIT Manipal will send you an admission letter in June–July 2026.

For students who are also applying through CUET or keeping multiple options open, here’s the updated CUET UG 2026 schedule and application link: CUET 2026 exam

All the very best – go make it happen.
